This place needs no introduction to any food lover in/from Chennai. Truly, an iconic place that manages to maintain a loyal customer base with heavy crowd thronging them on all days of the week. With the fear of Pandemic still lurking everywhere, when you are in midst of such crowded atmosphere, it sure gives you chills. But, one look at that thinnest Vanjiram Fry in a plate hopping from one table to another to be served, you forget the sense of fear till the time you are inside Nair Mess.
It’s exactly the thought of their perfect Vanjiram Fry (₹200) that made me visit them. I always try to stick to their Meals (₹86) because their coconut oil dripping Omelette (₹30) is something that I enjoy the most with steamed rice and curry. I preferred their Fish Curry (₹72) over their Mutton Kurma (₹68). That’s always been the case as far as I can remember. Prawns Fry (₹89) is sure to make an appearance on the table. The plumpy shrimps in a tangy thokku form is a standard order here. This time around, orderes their Mutton Fry (₹87) and Thalakary Fry (₹87) which were prepared well.
Service was prompt and attentive, as always.
Total bill was ₹1616 for the 4 of us with multiple orders of a few dishes.
