With the given current situation, it gives me immense happiness to write about a new venture that has opened recently (a week old as I write this). The greedy food enthusiast in me, is so happy to see some good eateries making it’s appearance in the market amidst all the good eateries that had to shut due to the Pandemic. As they say, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.
Chef Navin and Chef Mani (Together called as Chefs M&N) have come up with this quirky concept called “Thara Local” which is like a breath of fresh air. Be it the menu which is designed around “Chennai” or be it the thought behind their Packaging which is practical – Thara Local seems to stand out.
All their Starters come with a choice of Idiyappam or Parotta or Variety Rice. Rawuther Beef Chukka (₹325) was spot on. The ground spices in Royapuram Kozhi Idicha Masala (₹265) did it’s magic. Devoured the complimentary Idiyappams with the Spicy Naatu Kozhi Gravy (₹295).
Chinna Arisi Mutton Biryani (₹305) wasn’t the normal Chennai style. I personally don’t associate Small Grain to Chennai Style Biryani but isn’t Chennai all about adopting styles? And, this Chef Style Biryani tasted very good when the Mutton Chunks with its Masala was mixed through with the flavorful Small Grained Rice and consumed together. Very different and tasty, indeed.
Totally paid around ₹1250. My Delivery was from their Nandanam kitchen. They are soon opening in Anna Nagar and ECR.
