Sometimes life loves you back the way you love it and sends across to you some sensational experiences in the form of a gift that you’ll cherish for your lifetime. A few days trip in Kochi, last month, and this place still stands out as one of the best of all the places, we went.
Kayaloram, is a shack in Kumbalangi with a breath taking view of a serene lake and the Chinese fishing nets. Kumbalangi, a fishing village is reaching it’s pinnacle of being a tourism attraction. So, we were there for dinner living our “Kumbalangi Nights” dream. I’m sure, the day view would be equally good.
First few minutes after we entered Kayaloram, it was a bit depressing with them not adjusting with giving us a long table for the 7 of us to dine together. And, non-availability of many dishes in their Menu etc. But, as time passed, we got friendly with the staff with our good Tamil and their Broken Tamil and ordered whatever was available and it ended up as one of the best experiences. Of course, they joined 2 tables together for us, too.
Sipping through a hot glass of Sulaimani Tea (₹10) looking at serene waters and the moving fishing nets, was an excellent feeling. Coming to the food, the Puttus were exceptionally good. Ive had Puttus before but never had anything like this 😁. Be it the Idi Iraichi (₹100), Chemeen Puttu (₹100), Chicken Puttu (₹100) or the Plain Puttu (₹15) we seemed to love every kind of Puttu that was served on the table.
Kakka Thoran (₹80) was good. The beef in Beef Kappa (₹110) and Vindaloo (₹100) was so soft that it could have been easily mistaken for a soft cooked Mutton. Idi eraichi (₹100) vanished with in few minutes of it being served. The crispy Chicken Fry (₹80) with it’s coconut oil flavor stood out and we ended up ordering more of it.
Total bill was ₹1355 after multiple servings of multiple orders and Mineral Water Bottles.
